the brake interlock press on the brake to release it
It ensures that only one gear can be engaged at a time.
It is possible, but not wise. It needs to be repaired before driving it. One method that generally works is to use Blowclean. It works great, is good for a year, and works on all ignition interlock systems.
Stuck in Park? Check to see if the stop lights are working - shift interlock should be the same circuit Check stop light fuse Try turning the key to 1st position (Unlock) Shift to neutral to start vehicle and then shift to Drive
if the shifter does not move the shift interlock may be bad
keeps you from putting car in gear unless brakes are pushed. I have been doing that wanting to put the truck in gear but it is not happening. It is still stuck in park.
bevel gear is driven by a ring gear thus turning the axles

Check the shifter interlock system. A simple problem like a bad brake light switch can make the interlock not release. Possible fuse or wiring problem also. this is only a guess because of lack of information (Year, make, model, etc) given. Also check the owners manual for bypass instructions if the car does have a interlock system. An interlock system needs the brake pedal depressed to move the shifter.
Switch that prevents gear shift lever from moving from "Park" position until brake is applied
I think with a car or a motorbike you shouldn't change gear while you are turning. Change gear before you get to the corner or change when you come out of the corner
To access the gear interlock solenoid on a Jaguar XJ40, first, disconnect the vehicle's battery for safety. Then, remove the center console by carefully unscrewing and lifting it out, which will expose the gear selector mechanism. The solenoid is typically located near the gear shifter assembly; look for a small cylindrical component connected to the linkage. Once located, you can disconnect the wiring and remove the solenoid for inspection or replacement.
