The fuel pump will prime the Throtle body when you turn the key on. Do not dump gas down the hole unless you like fire and replacing wires.
BAD FUEL PUMP. Need to check fuel pressure with a gauge first. You did not say what year it was or engine size, this would help with the answer.
By loosening the bleed screw on the pump. The filter may also need to be primed, which should be done first.
Chevy
I rebuilt my 231 (3800 series II, 3.8) chevy. I checked the bearing clearances several times, and primed the engine before starting it the first time. the current pressure I am seeing is about 70-80 cold and 45-60 at operating temperature. if you are seeing anything lower than 30, it is likely time for a rebuild. the oil pumps on these engines are crank driven and there is no such thing (for these) as a high pressure pump.
The fan connects to a temperature sensor, unless it's been bypassed. This sensor should be checked first.

No, you plaster or mud it first.
No. The engine has to be modified first.
With an OBD2 scan tool. Resetting the light will do no good unless you repair the problem that triggered the light in the first place. It will just come back on.
Late 96 models.
It was first produced in 1967.
As you are looking at the engine it is the first plug on your left.
