In Pennsylvania, individuals with a DUI conviction may still be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), but there are specific restrictions. If the DUI occurred within the last five years, the individual may face a disqualification period, generally lasting one year. It's important to check with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) for specific eligibility criteria and any required waiting periods related to DUIs. Additionally, having a DUI can impact employment opportunities in the trucking industry.
You can get the CDL. Finding employment with two DUIs on your record will be the problem.
You can get a CDL, but the odds of finding employment are very slim.
I am from Philadelphia and was a commercial truck driver for over 18 years. If you have 2 DUI's you CAN'T ever get a CDL! It is very hard to get a CDL if you have one DUI. With the economy still in a recession with high unemployment, it is not easy to get a job in trucking. There are more drivers than freight nationwide. If your MVR is not clean, you will be at a strong disadvantage. The trucking companies are cherry picking anybody they want now-they are in the driver's seat!
You need a CDL for that job, and even if you can keep your CDL with a DUI, it's going to be expensive for you to insure your rig.
You can. With 23 years having passed since your last DUI, it probably won't even hamper you in finding employment as a CDL driver once you've graduated.
No you can not
A past DUI conviction won't prevent you from being able to get your CDL, but, depending on how recent it was, it could prevent you from finding employment as a CDL driver. If your DUI conviction was within the past five years, you're better off finding a different line of work to get into.
You could even get a Class A CDL, if you wished. A previous DUI conviction won't disqualify you, so long as the suspension period following your DUI conviction is past, and you've gotten your driving privileges reinstated.

You can get a CDL, but nobody will hire you.
You can't hold a CDL in Kansas with a DUI.
You can get one as soon as you have your driving privileges reinstated. However, your odds of finding employment as a CDL driver within the first five years after you had your DUI conviction are slim to none.
