Sorry to say it but I've been looking for the same info for the longest. you should do what I'm gonna do, just get the rebuild kit off of eBay right about 100 bucks and get the videos and a manual, and just go to town. only other thing you need is a special tool to compress the clutches so that they can be removed and then to install the new ones as well.
Chances are good your transmission is toast. Time for a new one or a rebuild.
It's not shifting into neutral, the 3rd gear "drive" band is slipping. Time for rebuild.
Any small block Chevy that's older then 1999 will bolt right to it.
Yes
You can't. No matter what you do to it. It will always be a 700R4
Yes
yes
I think it was from 1988 through 1992 used the 700R4
Yes...and most of them came with the 700r4. If it wasn't originally equipped the 700r4 then you may have to change the tranny cross member.
im guessing you have a 700r4 its is time to get a rebuild but for your answer it could be a valve body problem or possibly the 3rd and 4th clutches and sprags are bad
what is the transmission capacity for a 1988 700r4 with transfer case
NO, Not even close. The 4L80E is an electronic / computer controlled transmission. The 700R4 is not.
