How do you clean sticky vinyl car seats I have a 1995 RV with bucket seats. They have become sticky to the touch and nothing I have tried takes the stickiness off. Please help.?

Try Meguiars #39 Professional Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner. If that does not work try pure vinegar. If that does not help, your vinyl seats are toast, and it is time to visit an upholstery shop.

How do you remove mold and mildew from vinyl boat seat with out damage?

Tilex. Then rinse, but don't use ArmorAll afterwards. Get Meguiars rubber and vinyl #57 (RV and Marine)I own 4 boats and I have finally found something that EASILY cleans mold and mildew off of vinyl boat seats without stressing the material. It is called Double Duty Velour and Interior cleaner. It is mixed and made by a small company in central Il. called Huelsmann Distribution 800-359-7445. Besides cleaning the mold IN ONE WIPE!, it seems to minimize the amount of mold that grows back and conditions the vinyl. It is made for professional detailers and doesn't have any bleach. It is made of butoxyethanol, tetrasodium EDTA, cetyl dimethyl amine oxide and liquefied petroleum gas. After using it once, I bought a case (12 cans) for about $60, but they also sell half cases. This stuff is the simplest and best product that I have ever seen for this application…..an no I don't work for them…after wasting so much time and energy fighting mold, I feel compelled to share.

How do you clean vinyl seats?

I have a 1973 Ford Mustang, which came stock with all vinyl upholstered seats. I got lucky, and they weren't damaged AT ALL. they had some minor dirt problems. I've done some research on the internet, and it says that you can clean them with most household cleaning products EXCEPT: Bleach. which i wouldn't recommend anyways. an article i rad says that WATER can damage the seats or cause mildew or mold, BUT only if left on for long periods of time. Another article I read said that Armor All wipes work good to protect the vinyl from future damage from the sun and all the other elements, as well as give the vinyl the "classy" look of the original vinyl. The most helpful article I read said to use Armor All Wipes, and then gently use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to help take off that ground in dirt. I've tried all of the mentioned processes, and the last one was BY FAR the most effective.

What makes that new car smell?

The "New Car" smell is related to what is known as an "out gassing" of many of the materials used to make the car. For example, the vinyl in the dash board gives off gasses during it's first few months after manufacture. The same can be said of the carpet, the glues used to install it, and the seats. Cloth or vinyl seats give off their own odors, while leather gives off odors, due to the treatments performed to make it last longer. There actually is an air freshener that car manufacturers use to cover up the out gassing of the interior materials. That is what you actually smell.
