The pushrod is actuated by the camshaft for the purpose of actuating the lifters/rocker arms which, in turn, pushes open either an intake or exhaust valve in the cylinder head.
I just want to see a picture of the chevy lumina pushrod
The cam pushes the lifter and pushrod up. The rocker sits on a fulcrum, which converts the upward motion of the pushrod into downward motion to open the valve.
To change the pushrod seals on a 1988 Sportster, start by removing the pushrod covers and the pushrods themselves. Then, carefully remove the old seals from the engine case and install the new seals, ensuring they are seated properly. Reassemble by reinserting the pushrods and replacing the pushrod covers, making sure to torque everything to the manufacturer’s specifications. Finally, check for leaks before taking the bike for a ride.
factory pushrods have a paint mark on them, orange (shorter pushrod) is for exhaust and yellow (longer pushrod) is for intake

The quickest way I know of is to use a small needle-nosed visegrip or pliers. Chevys also have a socket head plug directly under the pushrod that can be removed to tap it up. When you do get it to move up put some grease on the pushrod to hold it in place so it won't fall again. Mark
In an automobile engine : Over Head Valve ( its a pushrod design engine )
uh there sharp,um and short, you use them for jaming doors open.
The pushrod is a long rod about the diameter of a pencil which transfers motion from the camshaft to the rocker arms. The rocker arms open and close the valves. The pushrod goes up and down very fast, opening and closing the valves. They go through pushrod guides which hold the pushrods in alignment and stop oil from flowing past them (the rods need oil to prevent wear and are oiled).
