The light is on because the ABS (antilock brake system) has a problem. When the light is on the ABS is not functioning. The light will not go off until the problem is fixed. Many auto parts stores will read the trouble codes from your vehicle's computer for zip if you purchase the parts necessary to fix the problem from them. When the problem is fixed the light will go off by itself.

abs break bell
THere should be an ABS warning light that comes on briefly along with all the other indicator lights when you turn the ignition on.
No, if the light is on all the time there is a problem with the ABS system. Have this looked into by a professional.
Something has gone wrong with the Antilock Brake System . It could be a fuse , a sensor , or some other problem As long as the red " BRAKE " light is not on in your dash you still have " normal " braking * in my case , the ABS warning light suddenly came on and the first ABS fuse that I checked was not installed all the way . I touched the fuse with my finger , heard a click , and the ABS warning light went out ( I don't know how that could have happened to the fuse ! )
When you start your car all / most of the warning lights and other light in the dashboard will come on. It is just the procedure of the car starting and checking all the systems. If it stays on throughout the day, then the computer has detected a malfunction and set a code.
Under the hood next too the windshield wiper motor. If you remove it, your brake warning light and abs warning light will remain on constantly. However, all your lights will function normally.
check the brake fluid level. check all the brake linings for thickness.
The ABS light may indicate that the ABS system isn't working. The one in my van is coming on and going off from time to time. My mechanic says to wait until it is on all the time and he will replace the ABS module. The tire gauge light could mean that one or more of the tires have low pressure.
Have you checked your brake fluid?
A problem has been detected with the Anti-lock Brake System It could be a fuse , a sensor , or some other problem In my case the ABS light came on and stayed on , and the first ABS fuse that I checked was not installed all the way . I touched the fuse with my finger , heard a click , and the ABS warning light went out ( just lucky I guess , but also suspicious of how that could have happened )
The ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) detects a problem with the system. The ABS light will remain on until the problem is fixed. Once the problem is fixed correctly the ABS light will reset itself.
