yes !it is a major component in the engine which lets the fuel/exaust gas in and out of the combustion area sooo.. with out the camshaft turning at or only a bit of it turing if its snaped then not only will the valves for the cylinders past where the cams brocken not go up n down they more than likely have stopped in a open position and if you have tried to start your car then you may just be looking at digging them valves out the tops of your pistons too and rebuilding the engine to boot .....sorry but hey ! you could be lucky and have a damage free engine type and then your only looking at replacing the cam and some rockers hope this helps
Broken rotor button.
Yes, a broken chain or chain that is worn so bad it has jumped a tooth or 2 can cause the vehicle not to start.
well i dont know!
A bad cam or crank sensor can cause a no start, but the engine will still crank or turn over.
Yes it can cause a no start condition.
it could be one of the sensors crank shaft or cam shaft
It won't hurt the engine, But it can cause it not to run are even start.
the starter is probably broken
Either a broken kick start shaft that is bound up internally or most likely a seized motor.
A bad CV shaft typically wouldn't cause a car to die or prevent it from starting. The CV (Constant Velocity) shaft is primarily responsible for transferring power from the transmission to the wheels, and issues with it usually result in vibrations, noises, or difficulty in driving rather than affecting the engine's ability to start. If a car won't start, it’s more likely related to the battery, starter, fuel system, or ignition components.
Yes, a disconnected or broken TACH wire from the HEI distributor cap can cause a '79 trans to fail to start.
No. If it starts and doesn't fire then you have one of two problems fuel or spark. The most common problem is a bad coil. A broken cam belt will cause the valves in the cylinder heads to be open when they should be closed. This is a problem that would cause major engine damage if you attempt to start. The pistons would hit the valves damaging the valve and the piston.
