Newly formed dreads can take anywhere from a few months to a year to fully mature and tighten up, depending on your hair texture and maintenance routine. Regular maintenance, such as palm rolling and crochet hooking, can help speed up the process. Shake-out, or the dreads becoming firm and well-formed, is an ongoing process that can continue for several months as the dreadlocks lock and tighten.
impossible to say. natural dreads (like rastas have) change in number often. new dreads form from scalp fuzz, while older dreads may combine or "congo"the number he started with and the number at death may have changed by dozens over the years.

Probably not any type of skull developmental problems, but I would not recommend giving babies dreadlocks. Toddler may be a more appropriate age. Locks require a lot of work when they are new, and I can't imagine a baby putting up with you messing with their hair for that long... nor can I imagine a baby with enough hair to successfully dreadlock.this is false dreads only require work ifd you chose a method that requires workbabies hair dreads naturalysee the below links we have many babies with dreads as young as 14 months (started dreading at 8 months)
