Is it normal for a fresh lip pericing to be a little pink around it?

Hi there,

I have had my lip done for nearly a year now, and thinking about getting the other side done. Yes it does go red for about 3-4 days, then the redness will fade. Occasionly it swells but this is only if you do not clean it.
