You must be 18 to sign a contract of any kind in the Unites States. If you are under 18 then you parents have to sign because your signature doesnt mean anything on a legal document (like the ones saying you cant sue etc) if you are not a legal adult and will not offer any protection the the tattoo/peircing artist.
