As a piercer I suggest the septum piercing as it tends the pain is only on a pain scale a 0 to a 2.5 you'll only experience the pain for a few seconds its only enough to make your eyes water. So with that being said it will be sore for the next 2 to 3 weeks at which time your going to need to clean it using non iodized sea salt and distilled water soaks 2 times a day during the healing process. Stay out of pools and lakes along with other large bodies of water as lakes rivers and streams can contain bacteria that can lead to infection. Stay out of the Swimming Pools for at least 6 to 8 weeks as the chlorine in swimming pools tend to dry out the septum piercing. As with the lip piercing the pain is much stronger as its pretty much soft muscle like tissue. During the first 8 months its gonna swell and be very tender so I recommend for the aftercare and cleaning to use saline solution that you can pick up at the store and use it to clean the piercing 3 times a day for the first 8 months. Just like with the septum piercing don't sleep on it don't bump it on things and the most important part is don't mess with the piercing in any way. The only time you should touch the piercing which goes for both septum and lip is wash your hands with an antibacterial soap before proceeding to clean the piercing to prevent any kind of infection from forming. I hope this helps answer your question.
