What do germs look like?

Germs are organisms consisting of only one cell, whereas plants and animals are made from a lot of cells. Germs come in many shapes depending on the type. Some are round. Some are elliptical (cigar-shaped). Some are irregular like blobs. You can see germs through a microscope, or you can look at pictures of them on the internet.

Simply put: A round ball with spikes on it. The spikes stick out all over the sphere and look a little like mushrooms with pointy heads, and between the spikes are long, thin pointed hair like filaments. The links below will give some great electron microscope pictures of some of the different flu virions. The flu virus looks slightly different depending on the type of the flu. They require an electron microscope to even "see" since they are sub-microscopic particles.
