That is a very subjective question and depends on what you consider beautiful. South Dakota boasts both the awe-inspiring Badlands and the majesty of the Black Hills and Mt. Rushmore. The Ozarks of southern Missouri have some of the oldest and most gorgeous mountains, hills and forests in the nation, not to mention dozens of accessible caves which earn it the nickname "The Cave State." Minnesota is known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," and although the nickname somewhat overestimates the actual number of lakes, it stands true that the state is adorned with millions of acres of beautiful state forests and waterways. Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois all have beaches and shorelines along the Great Lakes. And if rustic farm country is to your taste, there is plenty to see from in all twelve Midwestern states.
