I am not exactly sure of "expiry dates" for mascara but after a while they do become mucky.I would imagine its because of all the air exposed to it after pulling the applicator in & out.They do advise you to throw out mascara after 3 mths.It does get old & can cause eye infections if your using old mascara.Have you ever noticed your eyes itching after applying it? If so I would toss it & buy new.Best Of Luck! because like anything that has a life, things get old! the constant in and out movement of the wand creates wind that dries the inside of the bottle. to help prolong (just by a little) the lifespan of mascara, move the mascara wound as less as possible whether you are trying to gather mascara onto the wand or simply applying it to your eyes. but this is a good sign for u to get new mascara and something new is always better! :)
