It is having an allergic reaction--you can give a dog Benadryl--and take it to the vet before it can't breathe! Like now!
no why would it swell. get it checked out.
tongue: yes, and to be expected from the irritation of the procedure; swelling in the throat, however, could be symptomatic of a spreading infection, the redness of which could be masked by the color of the tongue and inside of mouth; and, if lasting longer than a day or two, would warrant medical attention
A sore throat can be caused by many things. Although a yellow tongue could be a result of having a strep throat, you also need to look for patches on the tongue or if its hurts or is sensitive to touch. If your throat or tongue is causing you pain, it would be best to go see a doctor about it.
A tongue depressor.
Assuming it is poison ivy, you will develop a rash in your throat. It will then swell and suffocate you.
You would have to ask an ENT (ear nose throat) specialist about that.
For about a week, I've had Strep throat but hadnt been to the doctor. Eventually, the pain got to me and he prescribed me some antibiotics (Amoxicillin Trihydrate). I took my one pill that afternoon, and one after dinner. I took a third one this morning around 6 AM and went back to sleep. I woke up feeling something in the back of my throat i just couldn't swallow. Turns out its my uvula. Since i don't know my regular tongue size (never knew i would need to), im not sure if its my throat slightly swelling again, my tongue swelling (i think that might be it), or my uvula swollen (can that even happen?) Any sollutions?
Forceps
Oh my god no! Your throat will swell up so big that you can't breathe. You would die very slowly.
If you have an allergic reaction such as anaphylaxis where your throat would close and you would die, then you would use an EpiPen which has adrenaline that will open your throat up again and save your life.
It will close
For most tongue problems you would start by seeing a general practitioner. That doctor may refer you to an ear, nose and throat specialist. If you have trouble controlling your tongue you might want to talk with a psychologist.
