Slug and other gastropods have what's called an open respiratory system. Humans, for comparison, have a closed respiratory system. Essentially, slugs "breathe" through the pours of their skin. Oxygen enters and carbon dioxide exits.

Yes, slugs need oxygen. Most everything living needs it. Even plants and trees need oxygen. They don't "breathe" but, rather, respire - taking in oxygen and getting rid of carbon dioxide. That can be confusing since plants also use photosynthesis during daylight hours to take in carbon dioxide and get rid of oxygen.

However, some bacteria do not - and a new tiny discovery (named Spinoloricus Cinzia) in the Mediterrean does not need it, either.

No, it needs oxygen just like 99.999% of all multicellular organisms.

I deleted the answer because the last person said yes. His reason was because there are underwater snails. To clear that up, all organisms under water absorb oxygen through their gills and into their body.
