Yes there is what is called selective mutism which is a child cannot speak because of trauma. Also a severe illness as an infant can make somebody not be able to talk. I have also heard people being in car accidents and losing their voice.
I suffered a severe vocal cord injury at the age of ten (now I'm 33) which left me without the ability to speak/ or make the sounds that one would associate with words. So it would not be what one would call selective.
Physiologically they can be mute related to developmental disability or a injury or disease to the larynx. Psychologically it could be related to an experience of emotional trauma or conversion disorder.
Usually people become mute because there's something wrong anatomically with a part of the body responsible for forming words, like the vocal chords or tongue. People who are born with deafness are often mute because they don't know how to phonetically form words, because they never really learned. An injury taken to the speech center of the brain, Broca's Area as it specifically called, can also make someone mute.
People are usually born mute. If not, some muscles in the larynx might not be working properly.
No, mute people can't scream.
Mute people will cough only when harassed to a horribly abusive level. This usually occurs when the mute is either : A.) Kicked in the stomach or B.) Punched in the throat
Ive heard that about 1 in every thousand people are born physically mute, so take the population of the us and do the math, maybe somewhere around 300,000 (?) idk, wild guess, anyway deaf-mute people is a completely different area
No, but you can become constipated.
If the 'mute' is actually someone who is deaf (unable to hear) then, yes, they can hum. As to humming what we would consider a tune or the humming being well done, they might not be able to do that: lack of practice, unable to hear the tune (you might think they could hear in their head, but often what we think we sound like and what we do sound like are completely different). As such they'd be capable of making noise, screaming and humming in their own way. Cannot stress how much of a hassle it is to try to articulate sound when you cannot hear it, so if you were to come across a 'mute' willing to hum you a tune do try to be nice about what you receive People who are completely unable to use their voice (for lack of better words: true mutes) aren't able to speak or make noises that require the use of vibrations in their vocal cord/voice box (whatever you want to call it). So humming, screaming, any noise in that manner are out of the question. These people are unable to scream even if injured or harmed. If you've come across a mute or someone who is deaf then do be considerate on how you ask. Wouldn't want to hurt any ones feelings. To be on the safe side probably best to avoid calling us "mute" as well. I'm aware that aren't a lot of ways to say 'vocally challenged' but "mute" has often been used as a derogatory term.
U can only become mute if u look at sammi's stupid, ugly face!!
mute ** Speech impaired.
the mute swans prey is someone you would not think. the mute swans prey is the lion
Deaf-mute
Someone would use mute math if they were trying to teach a deaf person how to do math, or even a blind person as well because they cant see the paper in front of them.
Type "/mute (player name)" in the chat to unmute.
blind
It is possible to become mute if a person does not speak for a very long time, but not totally mute. Speaking may be hard at first but it will develop. People in a coma who wake up seldom have trouble speaking for very long.
yes it can but it depends on what trauma means
The mute dude can get someone that talks to say, 'hey can i have a cigarette?' and then give it to the mute man, cause it wont work otherwise, unless the two have some secret handshake communication system, but its likely they dont.
The medical reference for someone who cannot hear or speak is \"deaf-mute\".
When you mute a player, that player cannot contact you through private message (pm) or through global chat. You can't see what he/she says in global either.
