A black walnut tree, by the time it's 30 years old, will have developed a HUGE root system. Black walnuts are known for their spreading roots. If you would somehow manage to get such a big tree out of the ground without killing it, you would probably be able to find some buyers.
An average beaver can cut down 200 trees in a year
Please see related link below.I sell citrus trees. My grower had Sweet Kumquat trees in 800 gallon pots for sale last year. They were about 9 to 10 feet tall and about 14 feet across.. I would think they will get slightly larger in the ground.
They are called deciduous trees.

It depends on the store. Some Safeway stores stock black walnut ice cream while others may not. Availability may also vary by season, but I have seen and bought black walnut ice cream in Safeway, and have seen it there year round.

Yes walnut trees will grow in New Hampshire. I presently have about 10 black walnut trees and the hundreds and hundreds of walnuts with green husks around them are evidence of this. My trees range in age from about 40 years plus for a couple to 20 years for the rest. I have had many people question and doubt that my trees are actually walnut trees until they see them. I have owned my home on the Seacoast of New Hampshire for over 12 years and this is the first year I actually plan on harvesting any of them. Hope this helps.
walnuts, of course. what they mean by that is they produce walnuts. Walnut trees produce generally in the light spring or the mid fall. The walnuts they do produce happen to be large in size often. Walnut trees produce by generating small walnut seeds in the early spring that follow into the summer. By mid fall, the walnuts have sprouted & become the fruit the tree is known for.
This year and last year my English walnut tree bore no fruit. My black walnut tree was prolific both years.
Two beautify healthy black walnut trees that need to be cut down...last year was one of many bumper crops. We would love to have them both cut down and be able to see the wood. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. We live in Southeastern MI. Thanks. g
The walnut caterpillar is closely related to the yellownecked caterpillar. Its favorite food trees are pecan, hickory, walnut, and butternut. Walnut caterpillars, like the yellownecked, feed in colonies, moving from branch to branch. Young larvae are red to purplish with white longitudinal stripes; fully grown larvae are black, 2 to 2¼ inches long, and covered with long white hairs. Two caterpillar broods occur each year, one in late May and June, and one in late summer (mid-July through September).
Indiana Botanic Gardens has been selling Black Walnut Hulls and other herbal remedies since its inception in 1910. While many of the original formulas are unchanged, the company has also kept up with the latest research in natural healing and offers a wide variety of proprietary herbal formulas. The company still sells Black Walnut Green Hulls Liquid Extract at its BotanicChoice website.
Walnut trees will typically produce each year but may have off seasons to help the tree recover. It takes an entire season for the tree to fully grow and develop nuts which can then be harvested.
Yes, they do but this depends a little on the variety and how the tree is managed. They tend to bear more heavily on alternate years, but this can be helped by thinning the crop quite a lot in the heavy-bearing year. Some varieties are prone to produce more in one year than another. You will still harvest some nuts each year, just less in one of them.
