It can be concluded that Mitosis and Meiosis have similarities and differences. However, both Mitosis and Meiosis are both types of cell division and each begin with a duplicate set of chromosomes.
Compare: both involve the dividing of cells and the splitting of DNA between the new cells that are made. Both can also be parts of reproduction.
Contrast: meiosis results in four haploid cells, and mitosis results in two diploid cells. During meiosis there is crossing over ot the DNA which means that the DNA on two different chromosomes can mix to creaste genetic diversity. Mitosis creates identical daughter cells and meiosis creates daughter cells that are not genetically identical.
Mitosis = doubling of chromosomes. Meiosis = halving of chromosomes.
place of occurence ;mitosis= somatic cells | meiosis=gonadic cells crossing over;mitosis=does not occur | meiosis=occur during prophase of meiosis 1 to form tetrads number of daughter cell;mitosis=two | meiosis= four genetic variation;mitosis=no variation produced| meiosis=produces genetic variation genetic composition in daughter cell; mitosis=identical to the parent cell | meiosis= non identical to the parent cell and each other
After mitosis you have two cells and after meiosis you have 4 cells.
similarities: They both go through interphase
Meiosis II is identical to Mitosis. Meiosis is split into two stages, Meiosis I and Meiosis II. Meiosis I is similar to mitosis however the cells resulting from it have half as many chromosomes as the parent cell.
Mitosis = doubling of chromosomes. Meiosis = halving of chromosomes.
mitosis involves 1 division while meiosis involves 2
1: Mitosis and Meiosis are the two ways by which cells reproduce.2: Mitosis and meiosis produce fresh new cells based on their parent cells' genes.
nothing they are the same
Mitosis is asexual reproduction, meiosis is sexual reproduction.
During mitosis, sister chromatids are separated.
In prophase I of meiosis, crossing over of homologous chromosomes occurs. This does not happen in prophase of mitosis.
place of occurence ;mitosis= somatic cells | meiosis=gonadic cells crossing over;mitosis=does not occur | meiosis=occur during prophase of meiosis 1 to form tetrads number of daughter cell;mitosis=two | meiosis= four genetic variation;mitosis=no variation produced| meiosis=produces genetic variation genetic composition in daughter cell; mitosis=identical to the parent cell | meiosis= non identical to the parent cell and each other
there are no faces in mitosis and meiosis but there are phases
cell division includes mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis is with one parent cell and meiosis is with 2 parent cells.
During mitosis, sister chromatids are separated.
mitosis are division of the cell in which the nucleus is divided into two cells where as in meiosis nucleus are further divide and divide
