Shingles develop in 3 stages. First, a deep pain as if caused by injury, but you were not injured. Second, stabbing pain which comes and goes. This kind of pain is specific to shingles, very unlike throbing pain which is continuous. If you take medication early you can stop the progress of the illness, otherwise blisters break out.

White pimply looking bumpy rash started at neck and is spreading?

You might check if it is shingles. My husband had a pimply looking rash that started on his neck and started to spread down his arm. At first it didn't itch, but after 5 days he had some pain. The doctor diagnosed it as shingles and said that the rash spreads along the nerves on one side of the body. It happens when you're stressed and it comes from chicken pox that has been dormant. It will probably last for two weeks.

What could small red itchy bumps confined to torso that is back and chest be?

I am no professional but I researched lots after my husbands ordeal. If they also look like blisters (which may burst and ooze out fluid and get very itchy) , you may have shingles. You may also feel a stabbing like pain. If so, then you should get checked out as it might be shingles. My husband had it about 20 years ago and I had to completely soak the areas with several bottles of calamine lotion a few times a day to relieve the pain and itch. He was basically bed ridden for about 1 month as he had it bad with the itch and pain. He also used a pain killer such as Tylenol etc. The blisters have to basically dry up and will look crusty. That shows the healing and will be very itchy at that point as well. But I would see your doctor first. Even though my husband no longer has shingles he still feels the effects today sometimes. Hope this helps. Do a Google search online for "SHINGLES" and see if that is what you might have. You will see pictures etc. Make sure you get it looked at by a your doctor. Good luck.

Can you get chickenpox from your husband?

If you have never had it or been vaccinated, yes you can contract chicken pox. Take good care of him. It can get very bad in a grown man. Make sure he is properly diagnosed and treated. Watch for high fever. If you have had chicken pox, you can then get shingles later in life.

Can you get shingles from a chickenpox patient?

A child or someone who never had chicken pox before can get chickenpox from someone who has chickenpox (varicella). The same virus that causes chickenpox (varicella zosteror VSV) can cause shingles. If you previously had chicken pox, you cannot be re-infected with chicken pox.Shingles only affects older people, generally over 50 yrs old, or if the person is immuno-compromised.So a child who has chicken pox can infect any person who never had chicken pox..But once you have had chicken pox, your body creates immunity, even if your chicken pox were "mild" at the time. The virus remains in the body. In later years, the virus can be re-activated to cause shingles.A person with shingles can give someone chicken pox, but only if the child never had chicken pox before. And it usually requires direct contact with the oozing sores, or saliva. An older person with shingles cannot give another older person shingles, but the second person might be more vulnerable to developing shingles (i.e. having the virus re-triggered in their own body) if the second older person touches the oozing fluid, or is under stress, or is immuno-compromised. For example, let's say John develops shingles. He and his wife, Mary, are both 65 yrs old and each had chicken pox as children. Mary has had chemotherapy during the last year for breast cancer and her immune system is not good. She touches one of the oozing sores on her husband, then forgets to wash her hands immediately. She brushes her hair from her face and rubs her eyes from being fatigued. Within weeks, she too develops shingles. It could also spread if John touches weeping sores and doesn't wash his hands; or allows someone to touch the open sores.

Your husband and you own a 76x14 1994 Skyline mobile home Is it advisable to overlay shingles on the existing ones of your home or does this pose a hazard?

Normally you can overlay one time on roofs, even mobile homes. If you live in area that gets a lot of snow that is not advisable however, due to the excess weight .

Your husband has had shingles before and was diagnosised with it again today he works and lives with a lot of men when on the job how long should he avoid working and living with these people?

He only has a small chance of infecting the 10 percent of the population that has NOT had chickenpox, (the varicella-zoster virus causes chickenpox and shingles). The first time you are infected with the virus it presents as chickenpox, the subsequent outbreaks present as shingles. Anyone who has had chickenpox in the past already has the virus, and it may emerge at some point during their lifetime as shingles. So if any of these guys haven't had chickenpox they better stay away. Otherwise, they have nothing to worry about, as being around someone else with an outbreak does not trigger one of their own. Also, it's unlikely it would be spread without direct contact with the rash even if someone does not have the virus, but I would be careful about it. I guess the ultimate answer you're looking for is the following; A person is contagious from when the blisters form until they scab over. Generally, blisters will scab over within 7-10 days. However in some cases it could take much longer.
