Cleaning of LAF is done to prevent the growth of unwanted microbes in culture made for growth of required microbe. this is why it's done the how is first using sterile water for irrigation if you have a vertical LAF hood (most hospitals have these) the HEPA filter will be at the top . you start at the back using overlaping wipes DO NOT clean the hood as if you were cleaning windows!!!! next you use 70% alcohol the order it's cleaned in is Back Side Bar Side Bottom ... the best way to remember the order in which you have to clean is a bunch of BS (back side bar side bottom - BSBSB..lol)

Hi, For cleaning LAF you first wash your hands with alcohol. Now take a cotton and dip it in 70% alcohol and wipe in on LAF properly in each and every corner. Also rub the cotton into the holes or floor if the LAF is vertical air flow type. Clean the UV tublights and ordinary tubelights with alcohol. If there is any stain of cultural media on the floor which can not be removed by cotton then take a glass slide and scratch it with slide. After cleaning with alcohol properly now shuttdown the screen and on the UV light for atleast 20 minutes and before 5 minutes of starting your work putt of the UV light. NOTE: Never stand in front of the LAF when UV is on it can cause mutation to you.
