1. NADPH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate hydride), a reducing agent, is used to provide the reducing power (electrons) needed to create glucose. 2. ATP, the ubiquitous energy carrier, is used to drive the process through phosphorylation of key substrates.

In light reaction , the light energy absorbed by the chlorophyll A & B activates them into activated chlorophylls and energy released is used in splitting water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen ions , oxygen which is released as a byproduct of water decomposition escapes , then comes hydrogen role in dark reaction as it combines with NADP to give NADPH2 which carries hydrogen to fix CO2 into carbohydrates by the help of energy carried by ATP molecule (ADP + P ...... ATP ).

How are light reactions and dark reactions different and similar?

Differences: >light reactions occur in the thykaloid membranes, but dark occur in stroma >light reactions are light dependent, or they need light to take place, whereas dark reactions don't > dark reactions use the products of the light reactions >light reactions are the first step of photosynthesis and dark reactions are the second step Similarities: >both in photosynthesis Thats really the only similarity!!! hope this helps :)

What is the primary function of the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis?

Create products for which the light-independent reaction is able to use to continue the rest of photosynthesis.

What is produced during the light dependent reaction and use during the light independent reaction of photosynthesis?

There are two products. Thoseare NADPH and ATP.

Why doesn't Calvin cycle occur at night?

Obviously, there is no sunlight energy for light dependent reactions to occur while calvin cycle AKA light independent phase does not require light as it uses energy in the form of ATP and the NADPH to form sugars

How does respiration work in plants?

the respiriration is such a oxidative reductive process ... and during plant it have two complex more process consist of seriese of steps DARK reaction and Light reaction.................... dark reaction need no light wheather in day time or night time...................... some how the light reaction are done in the prescence of light ..........during the light reaction the formation of the light reaction is just one ATP Which is responsible for the production of dark reaction .............

How are the light and dark reactions linked together?

light reactin produce atp and nadph2 .this two substance will use for the stap of dark reaction

Why is the Dark Reaction sometimes called Light Independent Reaction?

Because the dark reactions are CO2 assimilation's and do not need light energy. They use the ATP and NADPH created from the light reactions to convert CO2 to carbohydrates, so this can happen in the "dark" as long as the light reactions already happened.

What type of chemical reaction is photosynthesis?

The two reactions which occur during photosynthesis are light reaction and dark reaction. Light reaction takes place only in the presence of light. Dark reaction can occur with or without light.

Create products for which the light-independent reaction is able to use to continue the rest of photosynthesis.

This reaction requires direct energy of the sunlight to make energy carrier molecules?

The reaction that requires direct energy of sunlight to make energy carrier molecules is light reaction. The dark reaction that occurs when the products of the light reaction are used to form C-C covalent bonds of carbohydrates.

Light Reaction and Dark Reaction?

Light Reaction is other wise known as a light in-dependent reaction. It need Photons(little packages of Light energy) from the sun that goes to the stoma and coverts it over the the next step....(Down Below)Dark Reaction is other wise known as a light dependent reaction. Inside the stoma into the thylakloids(they are little pancake shaped things)and they use ATP (made in light reaction) and NADPH to convert CO2 (carbon dioxide) into Glucose.-MPD-

How are Light and Dark reaction the reverse of each other?

Light reactions require light to fix photons into Redox molecules. These are temporary, and to fix this energy for long term storage, the plants use the 'dark reactions' such as the Calvin cycle. It is sort of a misnomer, because they don't HAVE to occur in the dark, just that they don't require light.

Photosynthesis consists of two types of reactions?

There is a light reaction and a dark reaction (the Calvin Cycle). The light reaction is divided into 3 parts, Photosystem II, the Electron Transport Chain, and Photosystem I. The light reaction begins in Photosystem II when light hits the thylakoid so the chlorophyll loses and electron, and the electron moves up in energy levels and reaches the primary anceptor. From here it passes through the electron transport chain which is similar to the electron transport chain in cellular respiration, but it occurs in the thykaloids proton gradient is reversed through the membrane. Then it enters phtosystem I which is essentially the same thing as photosystem I, and the electrons from there pass through another electron transport chain. This produces ATP and NADPH which are used in the dark reaction, or Calvin Cycle, which is again similar to the Citric Acid Cycle but it begins with Acetyl acetate and produces 2 ATP 6 NADH and 1 FADH 2 per every 2 turns which are required to produce one glucose molecule, the ultimate goal of photosynthesis. I hope this was enough detail.
