If a person has no spleen what should they not do?

My little girl was born without the spleen, like her father. I'm an Italian girl who is very informed about asplenia. Asplenia can be congenital or caused by traumatic events or by serious blood diseases.

I can say that people without a spleen have to do vaccines against streptococcus pneumoniae, c meningococcus, antiemophilus influenzae, anti-flu, MPR vaccine, and pay attention to any signs of infections or fevers, even if low grade fevers.

People without the spleen should not go abroad in countries such as Africa, (Meningitis is very diffused), use immediately antibiotics if they have got a fever, take precautions against stinks of insects

My little girl is 3 years old. I discovered that because my husband had a car accident and he did x-ray of the abdomen that showed he is born without the spleen. I suspected my daughter had the same problem, and I let her do x-ray of the abdomen. And she is spleenless, too. The difficulty is to recognise this rare and congenital malformation, I can tell you that you can recognise or suspect it by stranfe valours in the blood (inversione of leucocytarian formula, too many lymphocytes, a few neutrophiles, too many platelets), and Howell-Jolly bodies in the peripheral blood. If you know to be without spleen, you have to do vaccinations against streptococcus pneumoniae, meningocco c, antiemophilus influenzae, ant-flu vaccine, MPR vaccine, etc and to pay a great attention to any signs of infection and feber, even if low fevers, taking immediately antibiotics. Talk to your family doctor. As for me, I'm an Italian girl mother of a spleenless girl.
