When there are heterozygous alleles for a gene thy code for a different expression of the gene. For example, the gene to taste PTC paper is a single gene trait. A person will have two copies (or alleles) for that gene (one from their mothers DNA, one from their father). There are two possible expressions for this gene - either you can taste the chemical or you cannot. When one allele is for tasting, and the other for not tasting, this is known as heterozygous. Both alleles are relating to the same gene but they giving different instructions and are thus not identical. When this happens, the dominant gene wins - in this case tasting is expressed.

If the alleles are identical, they are known as homozygous and they are identical.

When two alleles of a pair are identical it is a condition if the two alleles are different this is a condition?

When identical: homozygous. when different: heterozygous.

Compare homozygous alleles to heterozygous alleles?

When the alleles are identical, the individual is homozygous for that trait. While if the pair is made of two different alleles.

What do geneticists call alleles that are both expressed in the phenotype when they are together?

Genetic makeup formed from both inherited alleles together is called a genotype. Homozygous alleles would be a pair of identical alleles for a single trait. Heterozygous is different alleles for a single trait.

Having identical alleles?

Heterozygous

Alleles that are the same = homozygous Alleles that are different = heterozygous

What alleles of a gene pair are different?

Having non identical alleles are called?

having non identical alleles r called dne mix ups. i hope this helped u!! good luck!

The state of having two identical alleles for the same trait?

Heterozygous

What are two alleles that are different for a trait?

They are known as a heterozygous pair

When the alleles of a gene pair are different they are said to be what?

They are considered to be heterozygous not heterosexual!
