R, rubrum is Gram negative.

Why? Because after the decolorizing agent Ethonal is added, it removes the purple from the the cell walls.. When the secondary or counterstain, safranin is added, the cell stains pink.

this bacteria Stain poorly with the Gram stain. Giemsa stain is used instead.
