Bit of a judgmental question, like asking which is better black people or white people.

It very much depends on the trait.

In Cystic fibrosis the homozygous recessive carriers get sick.

In Sickle cell anemia its the Homozygous dominant allele that is expressed.

Most diseases are usually the recessive type which is lucky, if they were dominant then inherited problems would be far more wide spread than they are today. Genotype is not restricted to disease however as many other factors are also expressed differently depending on the type of allele present. For example the gene for dark hair is dominant over the recessive gene for blond hair, this is why there are so many naturally dark haired people.

Hope this helps.

What phenotype is produce by each of the following genotypes?

Genotype: AA - The phenotype is homozygous dominant, exhibiting the dominant trait. Genotype: Aa - The phenotype is heterozygous, exhibiting the dominant trait. Genotype: aa - The phenotype is homozygous recessive, exhibiting the recessive trait.

What is the ONLY genotype that can produce a recessive phenotype?

Only a homozygous recessive individual will have the phenotype created by two recessive alleles.Since the term produce might indicate the production of offspring parents that can only produce offspring with a recessive phenotype must both have homozygous recessive genotypes.

What phenotype is produced by AB genotype?

The genotype AA represents a homozygous dominant genotype. The capital letter "A" represents the dominant allele, while the lowercase letter "a" would represent the recessive allele. If both dominant alleles are present in a genotype (homozygous dominant) then the phenotype is "A" phenotype. If one dominant allele and one recessive allele are present (heterozygous dominant) then the phenotype is "A". Finally, if both recessive alleles "a" are present (homozygous recessive) then the phenotype is "a". Therefore, the answer to your question is the genotype AA would result in an "A" phenotype because the genotype is homozygous dominant.

What is the pthenotype for each genotype?

Homozygous dominant genotype (AA): The phenotype will show the dominant trait. Heterozygous genotype (Aa): The phenotype will also show the dominant trait due to the presence of at least one dominant allele. Homozygous recessive genotype (aa): The phenotype will exhibit the recessive trait.

To determine the genotype of an individual that shows the dominant phenotype you would cross that individual with one that is?

To determine the genotype of an individual that shows the dominant phenotype you would cross that individual with one that is homozygous recessive. A monohybrid cross of two individuals that are heterozygous for a trait exhibiting complete dominance would probably result in a phenotype ratio is 3 dominant 1 recessive.

Which genotype is used in a test cross?

In a test cross, one individual with a dominant phenotype but unknown genotype is crossed with a homozygous recessive individual. The genotype of the individual with the dominant phenotype can then be inferred based on the phenotypic ratios of the offspring.

In a testcross an organism with a dominant phenotype but unknown genotype is crossed with what to establish its genotype?

homozygous recessive

What is the genotype of a pea plant that shows the recessive phenotype?

The genotype of a pea plant that shows a recessive phenotype would be homozygous for the recessive allele. Using letter symbols, it would be represented as aa.

What is the genotype and phenotype ratios for a homozygous dominant female and a homozygous resessive male?

When a homozygous dominant female (genotype AA) is crossed with a homozygous recessive male (genotype aa), all offspring will inherit one dominant allele from the mother and one recessive allele from the father, resulting in a genotype of Aa for all offspring. The phenotype ratio will show all offspring displaying the dominant trait. Thus, the genotype ratio is 100% Aa, and the phenotype ratio is 100% expressing the dominant trait.

To determine the genotype of an individual that shows the dominant phenotype you would cross the individual with one that is?

Homozygous recessive.

If about 50 percent of the offspring have the dominant phenotype and 50 percent have the recessive phenotype what are the genotype of the parents?

If 50% of the offspring show the dominant phenotype and 50% show the recessive phenotype, it is likely that one parent is heterozygous (Aa) for the trait and the other parent is homozygous recessive (aa). This would result in a 1:1 ratio of offspring showing each phenotype.
