Photosynthesis takes place in twp major stages:

1) the light-dependent stage converts light energy into chemical energy (ATP) and reducing power (NADPH); in this process water is broken down and oxygen is released

2) the light-independent stage uses the products of the light-dependent stage (ATP and NADPH) to reduce carbon dioxide to carbohydrate

no it just may take me a bit to type it is all but scientists divide it into 2 stages

the first stage is when the chloroplast traps light energy and traps it into chemical energy contained in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide Phosphate (NADPD) adenosine triphosphate (ATP) two molecules used in the second stage of photosythesis

the second stages the NADPH provide the hydrogen atoms that help form glucose, and ATP provide energy for this and other reactions used to synthesize glucose.
