CO2 is carried in blood in three ways. (percentages vary depending whether it is arterial or venous blood).

-Most of it (about 70% - 80%) is converted to bicarbonate ions HCO

-by the enzyme carbonic anhydrase in the red blood cells, by the reaction CO2 + H2O → H2CO3 → H+ + HCO

-5% - 10% is dissolved in the plasma

-5% - 10% is bound to hemoglobin as carbamino compounds

carbon dioxide in the blood runs through your veins and goes to the lungs, then a gaseous exchange is made and you breath out the carbon dioxide, then the oxygen you breathe in is passed into you blood and taken around your body to all the cells and come back as carbon dioxide. then the cycle is repeated over and over again.
