Besides that, with ultrasound you can see the body tissues on a different level than when you try to see it using x-rays. You can see it functioning live. With x-rays, all images are see on a frame by frame, unless you are using flouroscopy(now you're cooking!). It allows you to evaluate hemodynamics (blood flow and it's structures). You can evaluate anything but bone and not the best to evaluate intestines with very gassy patients. That's where x-rays and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging, not x-ray) are the tests of choice.
