there are way too many characteristics, but here are some from the top of my mind:

-complex, eukaryotic cells

-a lot of different organelles and has a nucleus

-cell membrane, and NO cell wall

-has centrioles for cell division

-small vacuole

-no chloroplasts

etc.

Animal cells contain a variety of organelles:

  • A nucleus.
  • A nuclear envelope; which surrounds the nucleus. Pores form channels through the membrane which rRNA passes through.
  • A nucleolus, which is contained inside the nucleus and is the source of rRNA production.
  • Cell membranes (surrounds the cell).
  • Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum.
  • Rough endoplasmic reticulum (contains ribosomes).
  • Golgi apparatus.
  • Mitochondria.
  • Centrioles (used in cell replication).
  • Cytoplasm.
  • Cytoskeleton.
  • Vesicles.
  • Small vacuoles.

It is possible to distinguish animal cells from plant cells because they do NOT contain:

  • Large Vacuoles.
  • Chlorophyll.
  • Cell walls.
  • Plasmodesmata (channels between differing plant cells which pass through the cell wall).
  • Plant cells, on a macro level, are arranged in a tessellated arrangement (animal cells have a much less rigid and more random arrangement).
  • During cytokinesis (the division of the two daughter cells during cell replication) plant cells form a cell plate.

Please note that plant cells contain all the above listed features that are found in animal cells.

Are the cells depicted or anomal cells?

The cells depicted may be animal cells or plant cells. There would be distinguishing characteristics. Animal cells are eukaryotic and contain membrane-bound organelles. Plant cells are surrounded by a thick and rigid cell wall.

Where is the plasma membrane found?

The cell membrane is the outer boundary of animal cells and plant cells, but plant cells also have a cell wall to protect their cells. The cell membrane and cell walls are the outer boundaries of cells.
