This is commonly seen in the Midwest (US). A calcified granuloma usually is not a serious condition. Most likely this is from a previous fungal infection known as histoplasmosis. Soil contaminated by bird or bat droppings can transmit histoplasmosis. Histoplasmosis is most commonly transmitted when these spores become airborne, often during a cleanup, demolition, farming or landscaping.
