Epithelial tissue - generally forms surfaces over and around things. They line ducts, glands, blood vessels, skin, and the GI and reproductive tracts of the body. They generally have protective, secretory/absorptive, and chemical modification functions in the body.

Connective tissue - these hold other tissues together. They are composed of a cellular component, a fluid ground substance, and a fibrous protein matrix. Connective tissues are very diverse in form and function. For example, cartilage and bone are connective tissues; so is blood.

Muscular tissue - cardiac, striated, and smooth muscle cells. These convert chemical and electrical energy into movement. Muscles as a whole, however, are composed of all four types of tissue.

Neural tissue - these are made of neurons and glial cells, and have a role in communication and control of the rest of the body.

When cells that are similar in structure and function join together they form?

Groups of similar cells working together for a similar function are called tissues. The four tissue types are; connective, nervous, epithelial, and muscular.tissuesTissues

What structures are made from cells that perform a specific function?

Structures in organisms that are made of cells that perform a specific function are called tissues. For example, all skeletal muscle cells can be considered tissue, because all their cells are the same and function in a similar way. There are four tissue types in the body; connective tissue, nervous tissue, muscle tissue, and epithelial tissue. From these four types, virtually all other tissues in the body are made. By combining different tissues together, in different arragements, the organism can produce its organs, which are a group of different tissues all working together for a common function.

How is a plant stem an example of an organ?

Because it has epithelial and connective tissue in it. Any organ has at least two of four types of tissues. Plant organs do not have muscle or nerve connective tissues. In human most of the organs have all four types of connective tissues.

What are the four main types of tissue in multicellular organisms?

The four main types of tissue in multicellular organisms are muscle, connective, nervous, and epithelial tissues.

What are the four main types of tissue?

Four adult primary types of tissues form the "fabric" of the human organism:1. epithelial tissues (ET; covering/lining)2. connective tissues (CT; support)3. muscle tissues (MT; movement)4. nervous tissues (NT; control).

What four types of tissue found in the stomach?

Give the different types of tissues?

A tissue is composed of similar cells that are specialized to perform a common function(s). Four adult primary types of tissues form the "fabric" of the human organism: 1. epithelial tissues (ET; covering/lining) 2. connective tissues (CT; support) 3. muscle tissues (MT; movement) 4. nervous tissues (NT; control).
