Observation, Fossil evidence, Molecular Evidence (Comparing DNA and proteins) etc.

Human chromosome 2 is widely accepted to be a result of an end-to-end fusion of two ancestral chromosomes.

EVIDENCE:

  • The correspondence of chromosome 2 to two ape chromosomes. The closest human relative, the chimpanzee, has near-identical DNA sequences to human chromosome 2, but they are found in two separate chromosomes. The same is true of the more distant gorilla and orangutan.
  • The presence of a vestigial centromere. Normally a chromosome has just one centromere, but in chromosome 2 there are remnants of a second centromere.
  • The presence of vestigial telomeres. These are normally found only at the ends of a chromosome, but in chromosome 2 there are additional telomere sequences in the middle.
  • Chromosome 2 presents very strong evidence in favour of the common descent of humans and other apes. According to researcher J. W. IJdo, "We conclude that the locus cloned in cosmids c8.1 and c29B is the relic of an ancient telomere-telomere fusion and marks the point at which two ancestral ape chromosomes fused to give rise to human chromosome 2."

That's just one of thousands!

What theories disprove evolution?

There are no scientific theories that disprove evolution. Evolution is a well-supported scientific theory that is backed by a vast amount of evidence from various scientific fields. Any claims to the contrary are not supported by scientific consensus.

Is evolution a belief system?

No, evolution is a scientific theory supported by a vast amount of evidence. It is based on observation, experimentation, and analysis of biological data. Evolution is not a belief system in the same way that religion or ideology may be.

Why was evolution considered a theory?

Evolution is considered a scientific theory because it is a well-supported explanation of how species change over time through natural selection. In science, a theory is an explanation that has been rigorously tested, supported by evidence, and can make accurate predictions about the natural world. Evolution meets these criteria, hence it is considered a solid scientific theory.

What do you think of the theory of evolution?

It does not mater what anyone thinks about the theory of evolution by natural selection. The theory of evolution by natural selection is the best explanation we have for much of the observed and observable fact of evolution. The theory is internally consistent with the fact of evolution, it is supported by myriad lines of converging evidence and it generates testable predictions in the form of scientific hypothesis. The opinion of no one is needed by the theory of evolution by natural selection and educated people have come to accept the theory.

Is the theory true that the theory of evolution is supported by a wide range of biological evidence?

Yes. If evolution was not widely supported by evidence, then it would be regarded as a hypothesis rather than a theory.
