"Lactobacillus bifidus" is not a scientifically recognised bacterial name . It probably means any of the 21 species of Bifidobacterium, but without knowing which species this is, it is impossible to answer this question.

Is there a difference between L Bifidus and L Bifidus Regularis?

There is nothing as L. bifidus. There used to be a Lactobacillus bifidus, but since 1969 this may not be used anymore. It probably refers now to any strain of any of the more as 25 species of Bifidobacterium. Which basically means, that you have absolutely no idea to what it refers. Bifidobacterium animalis supsp. animalis strain (Acti)Regularis is a strain used by Danone in their Activia range. This is a well defined and described strain, which has scientifically proven health effects. So the difference is that one is a non existing unclear wrong name that non one knows what it means and a well defined starin. Ralf Hartemink, PhD Food Microbiologist

Is lactobacillus an anaerobic bacteria?

I am asking myself the same question, and found this report, which seems to indicate that lactobacillus prefers an anaerobic environment...:Abstract: The growth rate of Lactobacillus plantarum(...) decreased during aerobic incubation (relative to anaerobic incubation). (...) Increased O2 utilization was accompanied by a switch in metabolism which resulted in acetate rather than lactate accumulation in aerobic cultures."Comparison of aerobic and anaerobic growth of Lactobacillus plantarum in a glucose medium", http://www.springerlink.com/content/p18g513007110117/

What is the growth Media For Lactobacillus Casei?

Lactobacillus species convert sugars into lactic acid, therefore lactobacillus can be grown in enviroments containing water and any type of sugar ( and sterilized honey ). lactobacillus can be grown in alternative media such as rice(milk) and fructose contaning fruits. Most Vegetables can also be fermented since they contain sugars and carbohydrates. Compared to kefir and other cultures lactobacillus needs less micronutrients and is more flexible regarding media PH. Lactobacillus performs best in a medium acidic enviroments containing sugars.
