Anything that captures its own energy from external non-living sources, such as the sun, deep-sea thermal vents, etc.
Auto=self, hetero=other. Hence "self-feeding" versus "feeding on others"
Answer The words "autotrophic" and "heterotrophic" are biological terms describing how an organism metabolyses carbon. Broadly speaking, an autotrophic organism is something like a green plant which metabolyses carbon by photosynthesis and a heterotrophic organism obtains carbon usually by eating an autotrophic organism. As a human, a British soldier would be heterotrophic.
An autotrophic organism is one that can produce its food using inorganic compounds as a source of energy, typically through photosynthesis or chemosynthesis. This ability allows them to create organic molecules from simple substances without needing to consume other organisms.
no because since they grow in the ground, they don't need to use the sun to make food for us.
its because the organism either lives close to the surface and because chloroplasts are visible in its cells (only if it is a plant) this information was found in my AP Biology textbook
some are autotrophic, some are heterotrophic some are autotrophic, some are heterotrophic some are autotrophic, some are heterotrophic some are autotrophic, some are heterotrophic
Autotrophic
The process of obtaining energy from the source
An organism that makes it's own food.

the bronze deer
Heterotrophic- it feeds off the food that is ingested by the organism.
Carnivorous plants are one example, but there may be others…
green plant(photoautotroph) and certain types of bacteria(chemoautotroph)
Phytoplankton, which is a microscopic and autotrophic organism. There are trillions of phytoplankton in the ocean.

Autotrophic means that the organism produces it's own food by photosynthesis, or chemosynthesis. if you meant heterotrophic then you forgot, at least, that other bacteria were around to be eaten.
protista can actulally be either. Some can be autotrophic and some can be hetrotrophic.Protista can be autotrophic or heterotrophic. An autotroph is an organism that makes its own food. A heterotroph is an organism that relies on other resources for food, just in case you didn't know. :]
