Where the appendix is infected due to a piece of food, a seed etc.. is stuck inside it. This causes it ti redden, expand and make you very ill. If it ruptures, the contents of the gut spills into the abdomen causing quick death. An appenidicectamy is the operation to remove an infected appendix, and it takes about 30 mins and isn't all that bad as far as operations go.

Hope this helps.

What organelle is analogous to stomach in a stentor and other protists?

The food vacuole in protists, including Stentor, is analogous to the stomach in higher organisms. It functions to ingest, digest, and store food particles within the cell. The food vacuole helps provide nutrients and energy for the protist's survival and growth.

Refer to and appendix in a paper?

In a paper, you can refer to an appendix by mentioning it in the main body of your text, for example, "For further details, refer to Appendix A." You can also include a citation to the appendix in your reference list at the end of the paper. Ensure that the content in the appendix is clearly labeled and organized for easy reference by readers.

Will an apendix burst?

Yes, if an appendix becomes inflamed due to a condition like appendicitis and is not treated promptly, there is a risk that it can burst. This can lead to serious complications such as infection in the abdominal cavity. It is important to seek medical attention if you suspect you have appendicitis.

Is your apendix an organ?

Yes, it is an organ that doctors remove frequently. But they haven't proved scientifically that we don't 'need' the appendix. Because it sits on the end of the colon and scientists haven't able to discover the 'purpose' for it, some doctors remove it whenever they're doing any other type of surgery, even if it's not inflamed. No Human appendix is not a organ it is just a finger like structure pointing out from the basal part or you can say the distal part of the large intestine. It is of no use in humans any more but it had a function in our ancestors but it lost its function in the gradual course of evolution.
