There are 2 types of bone marrow - Red bone marrow [ made up of myeloids ] & Yellow bone marrow [ made up of mainly fat cells ] . Formation of RBCs ,WBCs & platelets take place in Red bone marrow. At the birth only Red bone marrow is present . As a person grows older the red bone marrow decreases & yellow bone marrow increases . But in cases of severe blood periods, the body can convert yellow marrow back to red marrow to increase blood cell production .
