The pancreas is an organ residing behind your stomach.

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of that organ. It might be infectious, but that's rare.

Most common problem is that the pancreatic enzymes which are supposed to help digest food, somehow become active too soon and attack the body.

It usually clears up by itself.

What test are elevated with pancreaitis?

In pancreatitis, elevated levels of serum amylase and lipase are commonly observed. Amylase levels typically rise within a few hours of the onset of symptoms and may remain elevated for several days. Lipase is more specific to pancreatic inflammation and can remain elevated longer than amylase. Additionally, other tests such as liver function tests and complete blood count may also show abnormalities depending on the severity and complications of the condition.

What to do if your dog has been throwing up all day?

Do you know if your dog ingested something? Was he eating grass. You can try some pepto about 1 Teaspoon, wait an hour see if he eats, if he vomits again, call the vet, constant vomiting is a sign of pancreaitis. -Call your doctor if it happens several times. Sometimes they eat something that disagreed with them. If they thrown up a lot throughout the day, it could also be the liver. if your dog ingested something, like a toxin, it will affect the liver and cause your dog to constantly throw up. This is what my vet told me today, because my dog is having the same problem.

Fatty foods are also quite hard for your dog to digest and can overtax the pancreas, leading to sometimes fatal pancreaitis.
