A Hiatus Hernia.
The Lower Esophageal Sphincter.
Hiatel henia is actually hiatus hernia or hiatal hernia and it is the protrusion of the part of the stomach into the thorax through a tear or weakness in the diaphragm.
Backwards... The diaphragm is superior to the stomach
esophageal
The valve between the esophagus and the stomach is called the lower esophageal sphincter.
hiatal hernia
its called hiatal hernia or hiatus hernia.
Hiatal hernia
Hiatal hernia is a condition associated with the base of the esophagus, fundus of the stomach, and the diaphragm. It is a protrusion of the upper part of the stomach through the diaphragm into the chest cavity. It can lead to symptoms like heartburn, chest pain, and difficulty swallowing.
Hernia, hiatus: Protrusion of the stomach up into the opening normally occupied by the esophagus in the diaphragm, the great dome of muscle that separates the thoracic (chest) cavity from the abdomen.
In the fetal pig, the esophageal opening is located dorsal to the glottis. The esophagus lies to the top of the stomach, in close proximity to the diaphragm.
Esophageal Atresia
The Lower Esophageal Sphincter.
There are two openings in the stomach. The first opening is the esophageal sphincter, and the second is the Pyloric sphincter.
By far the most common hernias (up to 75% of all abdominal hernias) are the so-called inguinal hernias. Much insight is needed in the anatomy of the inguinal canal. A hernia is protrusion of an organ or the muscular wall of an organ through the cavity that normally contains it. A hiatal hernia occurs when the stomach protrudes upwards into the mediastinum through the esophageal opening in the diaphragm.
If the opening in the diaphragm is too wide part of the stomach goes up giving rise to a condition called as Hiatus hernia.
