Strength: how strong the bonds between the elements in the acid are. (the stronger the bonds the harder it is for the hydrogen ions to dissociate (break away) from the acid.

Concentration: moles per liter. if there's a lot of the acid in a small amount of space there's a high concentration.

just because the concentration is high, that doesn't mean the acid wouldn't easily break up.

An acid is termed weak or strong on the basis of it's disassociation constant (Ka). This is a function of it's chemical structure. Concentration is simply the number of molecules in a given volume.

The concentration of an acid or base is a measure of how much of it is in a given volume of a solution, usually given in moles per liter. (1 mole is 6.02x1023 molecules, atoms etc). This type of measurement is called molarity.

The strength of an acid or base depends on the identity of the specific acid or base.

The strength of an acid or base is determined by how much of it dissociates or ionizes in water.

For an acid dissociation occurs when an acid releases a hydrogen ion or H+ (technically it is hydronium, H3O+, but we will ignore this). A strong acid completely dissociates in water, a weak acid partially dissociates and establishes and equilibrium but the degree of dissociation still varies among these.

When a base dissociates it produces a hydroxide or OH- ion. A strong base completely dissociates, while a weak base partially dissociates and establishes an equilibrium.

How acidic or basic a solution is depends on both the strength and concentration of the acid or base.

Formic acid is stronger than acetic acid so a 1M (1 molar) solution of formic acid is more acidic than 1 molar solution of acetic acid.

What is the difference between relative concentration and precise concentration?

Relative concentration gives you a comparison of two or more solutions, telling you which has a higher concentration of some solute than the other. Precise concentration would normally be expressed in terms of moles per liter, and it tells you the actual amount of a solute that is present in a given volume of solution.

What is the difference between a pH of 6 and a pH of 8 in H plus concentration terms?

The difference between a pH of 7 and a pH of 8 are as follows:A pH of 7 means the concentration of [H+] is 10-7.A pH of 8 means the concentration of [H+] is 10-8.Therefore, a substance with a pH of 8 has 1/10th the concentration of hydrogen ions that a substance with a pH of 7.

What is the difference between osmosis and diffusion in terms of solute and solvent?

Osmosis is the spontaneous net movement of water across a semipermeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to a solution with a high solute concentration, down a solute concentration gradient. Diffusion is a spontaneous movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. (ex. tea flavoring moving from an area of high to low concentration in hot water.)
