The basic structural unit of DNA is a nucleotide, composed of a sugar molecule (deoxyribose), a phosphate group, and one of four nitrogenous bases (adenine, thymine, cytosine, or guanine). In RNA, the structural unit is also a nucleotide, but it contains a ribose sugar and replaces thymine with uracil.
Deoxyribose is the sugar found in DNA but not in RNA. It has one less oxygen atom in its structure compared to ribose, which is the sugar found in RNA.
The process is called transcription. During transcription, the enzyme RNA polymerase converts DNA into messenger RNA (mRNA) by reading the DNA template and synthesizing a complementary RNA strand.
Deoxyribose is the sugar found in DNA but not RNA. It has a hydroxyl group less than ribose, which is the sugar found in RNA.
RNA polymerase is essential for gene transcription, as it catalyzes the synthesis of RNA using a DNA template. It plays a key role in gene expression and regulation by transcribing DNA into RNA, which is then translated into proteins. Without RNA polymerase, cells would not be able to produce the necessary proteins for their survival and function.
Many viruses have nucleotides not found in DNA or RNA, such as Retroviruses like HIV that use reverse transcriptase to convert RNA into DNA for replication.

uracil is unique for RNA While DNA contains Thymine in place of Uracil.

The full name for DNA is deoxyribonucleic acid. A gene is a specific sequence of DNA that contains the instructions for making a specific protein or functional RNA molecule.
