In 1944, Oswald Avery, Colin MacLeod, and Maclyn McCarty published a paper demonstrating that DNA was the transforming factor.
Their discovery was at first met with disbelief by some scientists, who thought that only proteins could have enough complexity to hold genetic information. Also, for a while some scientists thought bacteria might have a different genetic chemistry from other organisms.
Avery
In 1927, Fredric Griffith concluded that bacteria could be transformed from harmless to disease-causing by introducing a factor that was not yet identified. This changing factor was eventually discovered to be DNA, the basis for all biological reproduction.
The Avery-MacLeod-McCarty experiment (sometimes simply referred as the Avery-MacLeod experiment), conducted by Oswald Avery, Colin Macleod and Maclyn McCarty, demonstrated that DNA is the substance that causes bacterial transformation in Streptococcus pneumoniae (no phage was used).
A later experiment conducted by Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase used T2 phages infecting Escharichia coli bacteria in a series of experiments (that have come to be knows as the Hershey-Chase experiments) finally proved that DNA was the genetic material.

It is called Transduction.
The answer is TransformationTransformation- transfer of genetic material
conjugation
The transfer of viral and/or bacterial DNA to each other. bacteria transfers DNA with a bacteriophage
When people refer to bacteria growth it is actually about the amount of bacterium in a colony rather than the actual size of an individual bacterium increasing. Bacterium reproduce asexually through binary fission. This is when they basically just make a copy of their chromosome and then split. They reproduce sexually through conjunction. This is when they attach to one another using their pili, which are short hairlike structures on the outside of the cell. Through the pili they transfer a copy of a portion of their DNA. They then take on traits of the other cell. This helps to explain how bacterium can pass on drug resistance to one another.Bacteria is every were and you can get sick if you don't dust daily.Read more: How_does_bacteria_grow

Transduction
In the process of conjugation bacteria transfers its genetic material to an other bacteria by using sex pilli not any virus.
