What you need to do is add Ice to it and make sure to keep it elevated (You can put your arm on a pillow to allow better blood flow, and make less blood flow directly into the finger to allow the swelling to go down)

Also, you need to tape the larger finger next to the staved on, tape them TOGETHER.

You did not mention which finger you staved, so for example if it is your RING finger, you would tape your MIDDLE finger with it (not the pinky)

When you are playing football, you need to keep them taped, and put BOTH fingers in the SAME FINGER HOLDER in the gloves. Trust me, this will allow goal keeping with much more comfort.

Also, be sure to ice the finger after the game. You can ice it up to 4 times per day.

Take Paracetamal or an NSAID (Such as Diclofenac Sodium) Which should be OTC (over the counter) It is in most parts of Europe. You can also try to get some Buprofen Plus (IB Profen with 16mg of Codeine for pain)
