The General Sherman is a Giant Sequoia in California's Sequoia National Park. The tree and its companions are in central California in the Sierra Nevadas. There was a coastal redwood call the "Lindsey Creek Tree," that was larger, but it fell over during a storm in 1905. Though the largest tree is the General Sherman, it isn't the tallest. That honor lies with the redwood tree named the Hyperion, which was only discovered in 2006. Its (secret) location is in norther California near the Pacific coast in a remote area of the Redwood National Park. The majesty of these trees cannot begin to be captured in any photograph.
