a serious mutation in ribosomal RNA gene is worse. the mutated ribosomes may lose their abilty to bind to messenger RNAs through Shine Dalgarno Sequences. they may also present wrongly placed E,P and A sites to the messenger RNA. this will lead to lethal results ranging from abnormal polypeptide formation to no formation at all.

A mutation in a gene for a transfer RNA would be much more serious. Such a mutation would affect the translation of all genes in the organism permanently. Meanwhile, a single error event in mRNA processing will hardly be noticed. Many copies of mRNA will be typically be transcribed for a single gene and, if one copy is damaged, you still have all the others. Messenger RNA has a short lifetime anyway and that damaged mRNA will be degraded and replaced quickly.
