A membrane has to be flexible to let things into a cell. A flexible membrane gives the cell form flexibility and lets it perform endocytosis and phagocytosis. Besides, the membrane asorbs nutrients and water easier.

∙ 13y agoCell membrane is not necessarily a liquid but it is a viscous matter (solid-liquid). It is liquid enough to allow the ribosmes and organelles to move around and solid enough to keep them from just sloshing around everywhere.
