Why do identical twins look the same?

Not always, but they do look pretty similar. They certainly do not differ as much as fraternal twins, but everything is not exactly the same. One could be taller than the other. One could be chubbier in stature than the other, too. And, one thing for sure, if not looks, their fingerprints and footprints are ALWAYS different. the only possible ways for two people to be completely the same is to clone a human being, but unfortunately this technology is beyond our reach in tehnology and science.

The pure reason they look alike is because they are produced from a single cell, and during its implantation in the uterus, it miraculously splits into two beings. Because the second being came from the first one, it is only natural that they would have the same characteristics.

Identical twins look the same because they come from the same fertilized egg. Their DNA is also identical.

Identical twins have the exact same genetic makeup, if you did a DNA test on each of them, the results would be identical, therefore they would practically be the same person.

However, not all identical twins look the same, this is due to environmental factors: If one twin ate very little, and the other ate a lot, the genetic makeup would not stop one being skinny and the other being fat, so strictly speaking identical twins don't have to look the same.

To be strict, if you look real close, they haven't. But their genes are very, very similar.

And the why is because identical twins start out as onefertilized egg that splits and produce two babies.

One fertilized egg, one set of genes.

Identical twins have the same DNA because they were created when a fertilised egg split in half - so they are two identical copies of the original. Identical twins have different fingerprints because fingerprints are formed in the womb and have nothing to do with their DNA. Obviously both twins couldn't be in the same position in the womb, so their fingerprints will vary. Hope that s your question.

They don't. Identical twins have the same genotype not phenotype. The Genotype is the DNA, but phenotypes determine physical features such as finger prints.

Yes. Fraternal twins don't look alike at all. Identical, meaning to look the same, are well, identical.

Differences between identical and fraternal?

identical twins are from the same egg cell that split, but ferternal twins are from 2 entirely different fertilized egg cells. Thus identical look the same and ferternal can look entirely different.

What is the different between identical twins and franternal twins?

The DNA of identical twins and of clones is, apart from random, environmentally produced mutations, 100% identical. The only difference is that clones are produced on purpose through advanced bioengineering techniques while identical twins happen as an accident of nature. Identical twins are, in a sense, natural clones.

What are fraternal twins?

Fraternal twins are two siblings that have the same birth day, but do not look identical.

Why does identical twins not have the same weight and Skin colour?

Eye colour is caused by genetics whereas the weight of a person depends on how they life their life (how healthily they eat or how much exercise they do) so it is an environmental variation. Identical twins have the same genes so have the same eye colour.
