Bright red blood is called frank blood, its fresher. Dark red blood is older blood that has been sitting for a while. The colour of fresh blood, say from an open wound, can be different due to variances in the number of red blood cells that person has. why this blood dark red? The amount of haemoglobin (red blood cells) that are in a person can differ slightly, this may cause some peoples blood to be darker than others if its fresh, otherwise see above...
