i don't know but we just saw a big white owl in Weslaco,tx...we were having a cook out for 4th of July and we were sitting outside celebrating when my husband said come here look at this big white owl...we ran to see and sure enough it was on one of the mesquite trees looking right at us..i started walking towards it and it flew up in a slow fluttering motion to the tree next to it...and it stayed flapping its wings gracefully until it found a place to land...it just stayed there but we couldn't see it any more it was hiding in the tree...it was weird the dog just keep barking...this is not the first time we see them... at our church we saw a family of 3 white owls living next door in a tree..one was huge the other 2 were medium size...freaky

They have a white head. The rest has white and black tuffs.
Barred owls are larger then Spotted owls. Their plumage is also lighter in color, usually with a few white or brown streaks, unlike the spotted owl, which has dark brown plumage with many white and darker brown/black streaks or "spots". Barred owls have different mating cerimonies then spotted owls. Barred owls have a lighter hoot then spotted owls, but spotted owls have a much more pleasant one. They are very smilier in shape in appearance but have very different lives and personalities.
elf owl eggs are a pure white.
